Projects

This projects list is in no particular order as everything is of high importance. Since the schools inception there has consistently been a lack of funds available to supply their needs so there is a lot of work to do to bring the school into the 21st Century. We aim to be able to provide all the necessary facilities by 2015.

Project Uniform

In the development of any child, self awareness and presentation are important factors Uniforms are a sign of belonging and equality. By giving a child a uniform at a young age you can teach them how look after it,to have pride in their appearance and that they belong to a school. The Boys' uniform is a green polo or short sleeved shirt with grey shorts and the Girls' is a green Gingham dress. All are collected from UK schools or via freecycle and so far we have supplied in excess of 300.

Project Kitchen - Estimated Cost £7000

Some pupils have to walk 6km to and from school each day. A kitchen is vital to prepare daily meals for them. Some families simply cannot afford to provide lunch for their children and so the children can only stay in school until 1pm. When we have a kitchen the children will be able to stay in school all day making a huge impact on their education. Negotiations have now been completed and a contractor selected. Building work is scheduled to be completed in 2011.

Project Toilet - Approx Cost £5000

As a temporary measure we constructed 2 pit latrine toilets in June 2007 We will build a full block of 12 toilets to fully service the needs of the school when funds allow.
